I've recently updated my statement of research interests and intent (a significant improvement). I'm now officially ABD (all but dissertation) in my Ph.D. journey. The plan is to finish up by summer of next year if possible and land a post-doctoral position or a research-related job for the fall of 2007 or maybe spring of 2008. Are these realistic goals? I'm not sure yet, but I'm essentially unencumbered by major distractions at this point, so I'm ready to pour my efforts into my career in the next few months.
