Noon Visitor

A restless little bird
     Lights
On the narrow window ledge,
Its scraggly feathers
A dusty brown tinctured
With orange and grey,
Its eyes tiny black beads.

It pauses,
Bobbing its jerky head,
Prancing circuitously,
Then, almost bee-like,
Shoots itself off into flight.
