Graduate School Complete and Job-Hunt Beginning

(Monday, March 30, 2009, 6:51 p.m.)

About a month ago was the big day: the day I defended my dissertation. That went really well, better even than I expected: my committee seemed enthused and asked a number of questions. I finished up remaining paperwork by about the 9th of this month and should officially be Dr.George tomorrow.

At this point, I am beginning the process of job-hunting. I've been thinking over what directions I want to go in my career, and I believe that I basically wish to return to the world of software development again, hopefully with a company that is doing work in (a) robotics and/or artificial intelligence, (b) computer gaming or simulation, or (c) neuropsychology and/or computational neuroscience.

Meanwhile, I'm making some progress on my novel Emancipation. I'm currently writing on Chapter 22 and figure I'm at least 2/3 of the way done with the first draft of the novel. I'm still living at home, but will need to start organizing my possessions, deciding what is critical to move with me once I land a job.
